Studio Notes
I make candles the way I make art: idea first, everything else follows.
Studio Notes is a place for in-between moments. These are the sketches, thoughts, and fragments that shape what I make. It’s where scent meets process, and process meets memory. Some entries start with wax, others with words, but all of them begin here, in my Vancouver studio.
Burn This Letter
Some things are meant to disappear. Burn This Letter is a reflection on impermanence — on how candles, art, and memory all change shape as they fade.
Nothing is Ever Left Behind
Every medium leaves a trace. From drawing to film to ceramics to scent, each practice teaches the next how to hold light, form, and memory — nothing is ever truly left behind.
The Month Everything Slows Down
November slows everything down — the wax, the hours, even me. This journal entry traces how rain, rhythm, and routine shape the way I pour and think in the studio.
Summer Forever
A hand-poured candle made to hold onto late light. Summer Forever captures that weightless warmth between day and night — an artist-made scent from my Vancouver studio about not wanting the season to end.
From Sketch to Scent: Building a Candle Like an Artwork
Each candle begins as a sketch — a mood, a line, a quiet idea that won’t sit still.
